Introduction: Hello! My name is Johanna, and I am a math tutor. I have been tutoring for seven years! I tutor all levels of mathematics. I have tutored children in elementary all through high school. I also tutor students in college who take algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus, geometry, statistics and calculus. I am flexible in times and locations. I live in Pembroke Pines, FL, so I am able to tutor in this area. Starting August 22, 2011, I will be at FIU South Campus from Monday to Thursday, so if you are in the Miami Area, we can meet at or near FIU. I am a hands-on tutor. My purpose is to help you learn the material, not do the work for you. I have tutored many students, and all who put the time and effort into the tutoring have excelled in their classes. I love when my students come to me with questions from homework they attempted. It shows commitment on the students' end, thus, I give my 100% to ensure that they get the best from me. So please, if we have the pleasure of meeting, bring questions! I prefer students who want to meet on a regular basis (two to three times a week). The reason I prefer to meet regularly is because we get to build a relationship. I feel that when I have a relationship with the student, they are more comfortable asking questions and saying "I don't know" or "I don't understand" instead of saying "Yeah, I get it" when in reality they don't. Also, I believe that getting help early and on a regular basis helps you long term and prepares you for important tests which results in doing well in your class. I am a senior at FIU majoring in mathematics with a minor in criminal justice. My two favorite subjects in math are algebra and calculus. I am bilingual in English and Spanish. I am the vice-president of the math club at FIU, and I graduated from Pembroke Pines Charter High School in 2005.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I recommend that you meet the tutor once before the initial tutoring starts and also speak over the phone to initiate the relationship. It would be great if you had at least one or two referrals. If the tutor has had a lot of referrals that shows that he/she is someone who others trust to refer.
