I'm a professional violinist with over twenty years experience in Swedish full time symphony orchestras.
Played with the South Florida Symphony Orchestra and the Miami City Ballet before moving to Sweden in 1988. Associate concert master of the Gavleborg Symphony Orchestra for 4 years, then moved to the south of Sweden and became one of the principles in the Malmo Symphony Orchestra for 16 years. Recently moved to Fort Lauderdale with plans on staying in Florida.
I am offering reasonably priced advanced lessons to improve technique for greater ease of playing. I also emphasize thoughts and tools for self-analyzation of your practice to achieve quicker and more effective results.
Under certain circumstances, I'll offer my services free for master classes in sufficiently large groups.
For free lessons, please check out Fiddlerman.com
To hear me play, search for Pierre Holstein on YouTube and check out Piazzolla with a guitarist or Bach Prelude on my electric violin.

I have had the pleasure of working with Pierre both in the orchestra, playing chamber music, as well as taking violin lessons from him.
Pierre has a lot of experience and his devoted passion for finding a way to reach your goal is very inspiring when you go back to the practice room.
I therefore highly recommend Pierre as a teacher or contracting him as a musician.

A. Full time symphony orchestra used to be my job. Now because of the area I'm living in (lack of good quality culture) I am teaching, playing a lot of weddings, events, and in part time orchestras.
A. Try different teachers. Don't take the first acceptable one. Be motivated and critical.
A. I would value my lessons more, record them and replay them so not to forget anything that was said or shown to me. I would listen to a lot more music while doing other things in life. I would what I was doing as much and as often as possible.
A. Know what you want to accomplish on your instrument. Set goals. Know what you want and what you will settle for. Be willing to work hard.
A. I have over 20 years of experience in full time high quality professional symphony orchestras in Sweden, Denmark, Malaysia and South Florida. I've been a concert master and section leader and section player full time working with sectional rehearsals and leading many violin sections for probably over 1000 concerts.
A. Being able to make great music. I love being able to express myself with my instrument. Music is one of the most exciting arts in life.
A. They ask me what I can do for them.
My answer is that I can help them make themselves much better musicians and technicians.
A. I had a student that was auditioning for a job that he had auditioned for 3 years in a row that not only got the job but won the audition unanimously out of over 30 violinists.
A. How much fun it is to play great, have control and make great music.
A. I started as a hobby when I was a child and could never stop.
A. I am proud of so many. Just yesterday I played for a fund raiser and was proud to see so many people stop even though they were busy, to listen and enjoy. Also small children that stopped their parents to listen and look. I am proud of the freelance work that I did in Malaysia on tour in Japan. Proud of a couple of solo performances with professional orchestras in Sweden.
A. In my line of work, playing in many different ensembles is a form of continuing education. Going to concerts and listening to a lot of music is also a part of continued education.
A. I am teaching more than ever before which will hopefully affect many lives and spread for ever.
A. My most recent project is taking place now and I'll be able to tell more about it in about a month when it is complete. Working on a project for teaching bigger groups of students, master classes and section rehearsals.
A. I'll teach the first lesson for free. Parents are encouraged to listen. 50 dollars an hour. I'll continue to teach as long as I feel like the student is motivated.
A. If you want to motivate instrumentalists and have a lot of special knowledge to offer, this is the right profession for you. If you are doing it for the money it is not. Try to focus 100% on the students desires and needs.
A. Do you still enjoy your work?
I not only still enjoy my work but love it more than ever.
