Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Before looking for a web designer, make sure you do your homework first. Research what you envision your website to look and function like. Visit your competitors' sites. Make notes of page structures, looks that appeal to you, example of websites that you like.

Then put together an outline of pages, sub-pages, and maybe even a little description of what each one might have as content. For ex: will the page have a video? a contact form? informational content?

Once you do this, you will be much more prepared to talk with a web designer and you will be able communicate your web needs much more effectively.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Any designer can promise you the world, but you need to be careful. Take a look at their portfolio. Note their clients' websites. If possible visit them and see how they look and function. And it's always a good idea to ask for client references. There is nothing better than speaking with someone who has done business with a designer.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. If the consumer is prepared with exactly what his/her needs are, the best way to approach the designer with that information and ask them the following:
- Ask them to provide a quote for all involved.
- Ask them if there are any hidden costs involved?
- The payment terms?
- Who they would have as a point of contact for the project?
- Ask them to commit to a time of completion. (Very Important)
