Introduction: Everything we do is custom and designed to fit a clients needs. I dont believe in bringing a whole slew of sample boards when I first meet a new client. It seems many people feel like they have to select something from the samples shown to them. I much prefer to talk with the client about color, texture, and design and then create something custom for their needs. With so many products on the market that can be manipulated in so many ways, it would be a shame to limit someone to just what has been previously done. In many cases, I will help a client scale back on their original idea to something that they will love for many years. Good design should reveal itself in layers, and be flexible enough to give clients the type of space that they are confident to change furniture or draperies without having to worry about things clashing.

I had Erik paint my entry hall area. We wanted something a bit unique but fit with rest of living area. Erik came up with an excellent design and color concept. His implementation of the project was outstanding - quality of work was excellent, work area was always kept clean, great attention to detail, project completed in a timely manner at a very fair price. Erik is more than just an excellent painter - his background as an artist makes him unique in his approach and implementation of a project. I would definitely recommend Erik and would have no hesitation to use his services again.

Erik painted my living room walls and tray ceiling in the living room. I was immediately impressed with Erik when he came to my home to give me an estimate on the ceiling with paint all over his clothes. He looked like a painter, not a sales person and that's a plus with me. He had his portfolio with him, samples of paint treatments in the colors I said I had in mind for the room (in our initial email talk) and paint chips in every color imaginable. Erik is friendly, easy to talk with and he knows what he's talking about! Erik Schlake is not just a guy who can paint a wall, he is an artist. He knows paint, color, technique, and is very comfortable in guiding his client toward making a decision that she is happy with. He spent 3 days meticulously preparing and painting my walls and ceiling. He was very concerned that I liked every step of what he was doing. He doesn't just show up and slap the paint on the wall, he applies it with precision and knowledge of his product and it's proper application. Erik painted the most gorgeous finish on my tray ceiling, one that is unique to my home only and that coordinates beautifully with the bold wall color I decided upon. It's a true conversation piece. The end result is worthy of a photo spread in a Home magazine, it's truly beautiful. I highly recommend Erik, he is a true artist/painter/finisher. Give him a call right away so you can get on his schedule, as he is usually scheduled a month out. I was so happy with his work on my living room that I didn't let him leave without getting on his schedule to have him paint my kitchen next month. And I'm already thinking about colors for phase 3 of his work. I'm so glad he answered my request, I expected a painter but instead, I got a true professional artist. Thank you, Erik! Annie Kitzman

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There is no complicated pricing system. While some finishes can be labor intensive, therefore increasing the price, the largest variable is the cost of certain products.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Always. Every year there are conventions and workshops with different artists and companies showing new techniques they have discovered. Many products require a training class to become authorized to use them. We love taking advantage every chance we can!!!
