Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Make sure you understand ALL associated and ongoing costs and commitments before you get excited about the price. There's a lot of "cheap deals" out there that hide a lot of ongoing costs and you wind up paying more in the long run.

Make sure you OWN and Control everything that is yours. Hosting accounts, Google accounts, Adwords accounts, Domain Registrar accounts should all be in YOUR name and not your suppliers.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Don't fall for SEO parlor tricks, like wholesale link swapping, Facebook Friend and Twitter Follower exchanges, unless they are RELEVANT. Google will penalize you if you don't.

Keyword analysis is the single most important thing you can do online, even if you're not doing full SEO or Google Adwords advertising.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. What kind of documentation do you provide so that I am not at risk when our business relationship ends?

What are some typical additional costs that I can expect that aren't part of your quote/price?

Will I maintain ownership and control over all online assets (hosting accounts, registrar accounts, 3rd party online services accounts)
