Introduction: I have been Portuguese teacher for more than 25 years. I am from Bahia(Salvador), a place rich in history, culture, beaches, cuisine, music, and carnival. I graduated in Languages (Portuguese and English Literature) at Catholic University of Salvador, and live in the USA for 20 years implementing, developing, and teaching the Portuguese language. I am qualified based on my experiences and skills that contributed to the rapid growth and success of several students, schools, Military bases, government civilians, FBI, Special Forces, National Guard, and organizations I have worked for. Conversation, grammar, reading and writing are part of the whole process to make a student feel confident and able to be fluent in a second language. Videos, articles, songs, and support material are some of the extra tools used in my classes. I have had several students of all ages, and what makes the teaching so special is to see my students speak, write and read in Portuguese. The love, commitment and experience teaching the Portuguese language is my motto. Welcome to my course and I look forward to hearing from you and helping you learn the Portuguese.

Almost 2 years ago, I was searching for a Brazilian Portuguese tutor to help me develop my Portuguese. My wife's first language is Portuguese and all of her family and most of her friends only speak that language. I started out by using Duolingo which was good for learning the basics, but then I stumbled upon Cleide's profile and was extremely relieved that I found a quality tutor at a reasonable price. I worked with Cleide for a little over a year and I must say that she is the reason why my Portuguese has progressed the way it has. Although, I speak on a basic level, my writing and understanding has far surpassed my initial expectations. I can talk to my wife's friends and family with confidence and we're planning on taking a vacation to Brazil this year! Learning Portugues and being able to communicate takes out any stress I would have had traveling to Brazil and staying with my wife's family. I highly recommend Cleide for beginners/intermediate speakers and I hope to continue my lessons with her in the near future.

I have been studying Portuguese with Cleide for over a year now. Our sessions are laid back and she really takes things at your pace. We usually begin our sessions with Cleide engaging me in Portuguese and having some conversation and slowly progressing into the lessons in our book. She is very flexible and accommodating also. Cleide is a great Portuguese teacher, I highly recommend her. I gave myself 3 months to get comfortable with basic portuguese before a trip to Brazil where I was driving from Rio to São Paulo and I felt like I was equipped to communicate well enough when needed and understand what I needed to get around. I have a ways to go yet, my goal is to work towards fluency so I’m going to keep up my lessons with Cleide. 5 stars 😁 thank you Cleide!
