I teach the OPUS 1 piano teaching system. The OPUS 1 author was inducted into The Washington Congressional Record. OPUS 1 relates music to school math. I was trained by the author how to teach it. Students learn 15 major and minor keys, not just the 12 keys as method teachers use. I have taught the method way as well as the OPUS 1 system, so experience shows me that OPUS 1 is by far the best way to teach and learn to play piano or any instrument. We write in work books, learn to improvise, we write the rhythm between the treble and bass and chord block pieces, thereby developing both sides of the brain, not just the right, artistic side, but also the left, analytical side. This is not rote taught. No memorization except for the scale, chords, improvisation, and pedal rules. Call for a get acquainted meeting and to see how I teach OPUS 1, which is also known as the "write to read system". Call 221-4251. My website is: jacksonvillepianolessons.net. There is a free lesson coupon on the site. Hope to meet with you soon.
