I love animals! That is why besides owning animals all of my life, I have had an in-home petsitting business for over 12 years.

If you are like me and your pets are like your children you want them in a loving and caring home environment where they will get plenty of attention rather than caged or kenneled.

This is their home away from home. They have the run of the house and I have a fenced-in yard there they can go out and play whenever they want.

Dogs must be current with vaccinations and on flea and tick control. Also, they must get along with other dogs as I have a Boston terrier.

I have lots of references available if requested. Rate is $25.00/day.

Question and answer

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Dogs are very in tune with our emotions and the key is to be calm in every situation and to make sure they know you are the pack leader. If not they will feel the need to take over this role and that is when problems can arise. I think everyone can learn so much about dogs behavior from watching The Dog Whisperer.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I have a genuine love for all animals and I give them all the love and attention they need and deserve like I do with my own. I will love on them, play with them, take them for walks and give them any medications they require if needed. I am also extremely patient which helps when dealing with the dogs. I have always felt I had a "gift" in dealing with animals.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Being with the dogs is truly rewarding for me. I enjoy the unconditional love and companionship they provide. I also enjoy working with them on doing tricks and helping the dogs and the owners correct behavioral problems they may have.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Do I dispense medications if needed? Yes, I actually do have some clients that require medication.
Do I ever have problems with the dogs when multiple dogs are here? No, It is extremely important to let the dogs know from the beginning that I am the "pack leader" and they will follow my leadership.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. I think one of my favorite stories is a family that thought they were going to have to take their dog to the pound due to some issues they were having with him. I worked on these issues while he was here and showed them how to work on these issues at home and they ended up working things out so they could keep the dog.
