Rev. Ann Fuller is a community minister officiating rituals such as weddings, commitment ceremonies, funerals, memorial services and child dedications for people desiring the assistance of professional clergy. She performs independent rituals aside from her part-time congregational duties because it is such a joy and an honor.

Rev. Fuller is known throughout Central Florida for her professionalism and caring personality. She has experience with a wide range of ceremonies including secular, spiritual and religious rites. She believes ministry is meeting people where they are and feels one of her primary duties is to be the non-anxious presence, thereby reducing the stress and anxiety often associated with weddings and funerals.

She works with each person, couple or family to provide a custom ceremony unique to their special circumstances. Rev. Fuller is affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brevard in West Melbourne, Florida, is a certified marriage education provider and on the faculty of the Humanist Institute, a graduate level program in humanist leadership.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Ask for references and interview several candidates before making your decision. This is a field with a wide range of skill levels and personalities. Because there are no centralized regulatory agencies, hiring an officiant can be a case of "buyer beware." Virtually anyone can find a way to satisfy statutory requirements to solemnize marriages in the state of Florida. I would highly recommend checking references and getting referrals from family, friends and event planners. Book as early as possible to assure availability of the professionals in the area and to avoid a poor fit.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. There is a lot more to officiating ceremonies than simply reading a script. Whether it's a wedding, a funeral or a child dedication (christening/baptism), managing the emotional energy of the occasion is a big part of the job. Being the level head and the problem solver when everyone around you is panicking is not as easy as the best in the business make it look.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. What are your qualifications? Can you respect my beliefs and preferences? May I call past clients and ask my other vendors about you? What are your contingency plans in the event of a last minute emergency?
