Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. The most common thing I do is help the Do It Your Selfers. With the economy being the way it is more people are doing repairs and other projects themselves. I offer my experience in these different related fields. And I charge one time per project so the customer can call me any number of times with questions dealing with that job.
Q. Describe three recent jobs you've completed.
A. Hung lights for one of my customers, removed some old gutter off one of my commercial accounts, cleaned out a drain that no one seem able to get open. just another day at work.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Watch to see if he listens to what you are telling him, does he care about your property? does he wipe his feet or offer to take his shoes off or put shoe covers on, look in his truck if you can chances are if he has taken care of his tools and is organize he'll take care with your property and be able to get done on time with the work as projected.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. We all like to think we're the best, the truth is I got the experience, knowledge and training to deal with any job should I take it on. I won't do a job for a customer that I wouldn't do for myself.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. The satisfaction of knowing that the job I do for someone is done right and seeing that customer happy by taking my time to talk to them and answering their questions and making them feel secure that they have chosen the right person for the job
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. There really is three parts to this the first would be are you sure you can do it for so little an amount? The second when can you start? Third you are done already? Like I have said before with me this is "Where Customers Come First"
Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?
A. One of my customers had tried everything to get a job done. When I got there it only took me a couple of minutes to figure out what the problem was and about 10 minutes to fix it, the customer couldn't believe I was done and I spent 20 minutes explaining what was done wrong and what they should do to prevent future problems bottom line by explaining this to them he now has the info to help himself and his family and friends.
Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?
A. The one foremost thing would be that I am old school when it comes to servicing; in a business world where the main factor is profit I am not only this! But also bring strong work ethics to every job I take on along with being responsible and reliable in everything I do.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. I started out working for the other guy like so many other people then one day I was approached for my skills and was given the opportunity to go into business for myself. So after going to business management school, plumbing school for 4 years and hours and hours of related studies in Consulting, Financial, HR, Business & Leadership course's and having my own business for over twenty years.
My Handyman Services got started while I was running my plumbing business shortly after the starting up of it a need was presented to me to be of value to my existing customers, I was getting request other than plumbing or drain services to do jobs for my clients at their homes so Mike's Handyman Services was born.
Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.
A. A customer wanted to rent a u haul truck and she wanted me to drive it for her. During our talks on the phone I informed and suggested what she needed to get for this job, the packing materials etc. She is a widow and this was the first time she had to deal with all these details, the end result was she saved time and money. What was quoted to her of $800 to $1000 ended up costing her for my services, materials and truck rental less than $700. The projected estimate of two days ended up being 8 hours.

A. My Basic Rates
Use of my truck $30 dollar daily charge 8am to 5pm, then $10 dollars an hour 2 hr min: to drive my truck also applies; this does not include my labor or travel time
General Labor $10 an hour 2 hr min:

Pro Services Labor $20 an hour 2 hr min:
2nd Man $20 an hour
Hauling, Towing, Moving, Furniture Assembly/Appliances,
$15 an hour 2 hour minimum plus truck charge if used

Painting, Plumbing, Electrical, Drain Cleaning etc... Are quoted before doing.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. The main thing would be get educated about the field you are going into. School work goes so far, the best thing to do if you don't have the experience to start your own business go to work for someone to get it but be ethical about it don't leave current job without proper notice and don't infringe on that employers customers.
Q. What is your greatest strength?
A. Being able to see out of the box, seeing all views and possibilities to a problem and taking the right course of action.

A. Right now we're working out the details to start taking all the major credit cards and updating our software for our customers records.
