FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Music more or less choose me. I took piano lessons from a very young age, but in high school I was over my friend's house and he showed me how to play the drums. I soon became very interested in writing my own songs, so I picked up the guitar and never put it down since. I then learned how to write on piano as well. My earliest records are from those days and I'm still amazed at those songs I created just from sheer will! Math was a subject that always came easily to me. I always found it difficult to understand how people couldn't get it like I could, but I also always found it easy to explain how I understood math. That communication of my understanding in simple terms is what I can offer my students.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently started teaching an after school songwriting class with fourth, fifth and sixth graders. It was really amazing how a song can bring people (children) together. I'm sure those students will listen to the recording we made a few years from now and be amazed at what they created!
