I research the game of golf on a weekly basis. I know that no two players swing the club exactly alike and that your swing will be unique to you. I teach through parameters called Corridors of Success which allow for personal preference within the swing. If you are outside of the Corridors, I will change you but they allow for a lot of personal freedom throughout the swing.
I teach through a simple 3 step learning process that makes it easy for every student to get better and understand the learning process.
The first step is: What are you doing NOW? Secondly, what should you be doing INSTEAD? This is where we discuss different options for your swing and come to an understanding on what is best for your ability and skill level.
Lastly, HOW do we make the change? This is where my job really comes in and we will use drills, I may phsically move you into a new position so that you feel it, give you a new way to think about the swing or a type of shot, and show pictures and video of correct positions. Any learning style can benefit from this approach.
Every student is guaranteed improvement from every lesson.
I typically use video for every lesson so the student can see exactly what they are doing now and what they should be doing. Often, what a person feels they are doing is not what they are actually doing. In essence, feel is not real and video enables us to break down that barrier together.
My students will receive ideally only one item to work on but at the most two things to work on. The human brain cannot focus on more than one thing at a time so there is no reason to make it more complicated than that.
