FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes I take all sorts of continuing education courses. I am a Board Certified Naturopathic Doctor which requires that I take continuing education courses every year. I am also a Certified Natural Health Professional and a Licensed Massage therapist which requires that I take 30 hours of continuing education credits every other year, so essentially, I'm always learning more about health and healing. I'm curious by nature so I always have more continuing education credits than I need. My favorite areas to study are Qi Gong, Therapeutic Massage, Ayurvedic Therapies and deeper levels of CranioSacral Therapy. At some point I would like to become a yoga teacher as Qi Gong and Yoga complement each other so well--they make the perfect married couple.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
As a young child, I experienced a series of emotional traumas. The following winter, I developed a terrible case of bronchitis (a COPD or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and was afflicted with it every winter of my childhood into adulthood. Eventually, I had to be heavily medicated with pharmaceutical narcotics because my cough caused internal bleeding. Each year my doctors gave me stronger medication, and each subsequent year, the bronchitis would come back worse! In addition, the doctors pumped me full of antibiotics which pretty much ruined my digestive system. By my late 20's, I had adrenal fatigue, my body was racked with pain, I was so congested that I could barely breathe, and it seemed as if EVERYTHING I ate gave me gas - and I'm talkin' 'bout the methane kind, ya'll! Desperate for answers, I began to study Ayurveda and other holistic practices which filled me with optimism for the first time in my life. I learned that what you can "get" you can "un-get." I am living proof that you can truly reverse the course of dis-ease. I no longer have chronic bronchitis, pain or adrenal fatigue, and I've successfully rebuilt my digestive system. Oh, and as a by-product of getting healthy, I lost a bunch of weight and got my self-esteem back too!
