FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Rates - There are no hidden fees, and the hourly rate includes all materials used during lessons, as well as additional practice homework for the student to complete between sessions. There are some package options for test prep and college counseling to help make prolonged tutoring more affordable. Payments - I can be flexible about payment methods. I frequently accept payment via credit card, Stripe, PayPal, and Venmo. Let me know what works best for you! First Session Guarantee - I always offer a first session guarantee, so families who aren't sure about tutoring can give it a try risk free. If a student is not happy with how their first session with me goes, I will not charge for that session. Session Notes - I make a point of keeping parents in the loop about what we're working on during each lesson. I'll frequently check in and provide a written summary of what we focused on during the lesson or some feedback to keep the parents knowledgeable about their student's work and progress. Cancellation Policy - I ask for at least 6 hours notice before cancelling or rescheduling a session. If a session is cancelled less than 6 hours before the session is to occur, I may charge for the full session. All no-shows will be charged in full.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My new client process begins by first communicating with you to make sure that I gather all of the necessary background information to make sure that I can help your student. This includes not only information about your student's academic track record and previous ACT and SAT scores, but also information regarding your student's overall academic experience, goals, and more. Once I'm certain I'll be a good fit to help your student succeed, I'll get to work building a custom plan based around your timeline, goals, and strengths. Whether we are working toward college acceptance, test day, or an English exam, I will ensure that we have a strategic plan in place to help your student be as prepared as possible to reach their goals.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I got my started in the private education world while working at Lindamood-Bell Learning Process as a literacy and reading comprehension tutor while obtaining my Bachelor's degree from Macalester College. During my time with Lindamood-Bell, I discovered how much I enjoyed helping students meet their education goals. I later began freelance tutoring as an ACT tutor throughout the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. One thing led to another, and I am now a full-time independent educational consultant and certified college counselor. I have found my passion in helping students not only get accepted to their #1 schools but ensure they are well-informed of the process and making the right decisions for them.
