Gordon & Associates, Architects is a specialty practice, employing a team of architects, designers and engineers keenly aware of the special considerations unique to health care facilities.

More than 30 years experience in designing efficient, cost-effective and quality health care environments has been an undeniable benefit to our clients.

By considering traffic flow, line of sight, acoustics and privacy, patients are less anxious and feel better about their care. This is the philosophy of G&A's "designed experience".

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Our services are international, so for many projects our experience is a benefit to surgeons, hospitals and other architects by acting as specialty design consultants. This allows the client to enjoy the benefits of retaining local architects, but with the experience and background of a firm who does their project type every day, and who understands the surgeon's needs.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. My advice is to visit facilities and ask questions of those physicians who have developed new practice environments.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Private health care is all we do. We have no learning curve on these type projects, and will not ask our clients to pay our tuition. Instead of our time being spent learning the project type, we can focus on what is unique about our client's needs. Because surgery centers and health care environments are the types of projects we work with every day, we continually stay abreast of the latest advances in design and technology relevant to them. Although we are proud of our design, it is only about 15% to 20% of the services we provide. Our clients want experts on the technical aspects - people who have been there and have seen all the variations. In design as in surgery, excellence evolves from experience.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Creating a practice environment that allows my surgeon clients to truly enjoy their profession. Instead of fighting inefficiencies common to many buildings, my clients can spend the time they need to provide the best care for their patients.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. My surgeon clients want to know how to be efficient without compromising the quality of care. In today's economic environment, physicians are forced to do more for less. Efficiency without compromise is essential, and my physician clients want to know how to creat that efficiency. How to accomplish that varies, depending on specialty and location.
