Introduction: I offer a unique type of music teaching for a limited number of exceptionally serious and passionate students in the Nashville, Tennessee area. I teach a unique program for intermediate, advanced and some beginning level students who are serious about learning piano/keyboard, guitar, bass, music theory, composition, harmony, orchestration, recording and production techniques, computer-based recording and production, traditional technique through exercises and drills, music reading and writing, chart reading and improvisation. I also teach music business and career development, covering contracts, touring, recording, and various ways to make a living in the music business. I am a professional music teacher, as well as a seasoned professional musician, TV and film composer, and performer. I have toured with a number of famous recording artists, such as Peter Frampton, Taylor Dayne, Cinderella and Gary U.S. Bonds, and I compose and produce music for television and film (ABC, Disney, Nickelodeon, A&E, Discovery Channel, History Channel, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema). I teach a unique program for intermediate, advanced and some beginning level students who are serious about learning piano/keyboard, guitar, bass, music theory, composition, harmony, orchestration, recording and production techniques, computer-based recording and production, traditional technique through exercises and drills, music reading and writing, chart reading and improvisation. I am a traditionally trained piano player (37 years), as well as an accomplished guitarist, (33 yrs), bass player, saxophonist and general multi instrumentalist/utility player. I have a unique twist on teaching that is very special and very effective for the special, rare student who is exceptionally passionate, devoted, and disciplined.I only accept students who have passion, discipline and intense desire to work hard and develop a disciplined approach to do the work involved. My specialty is multiple instruments and I understand the differences and similarities of the different instruments and how to apply the different techniques and approaches to get the essence of each, and how to apply them to each other. Also, as you can imagine, music is music, so you can carry knowledge of one instrument to another and vice versa. This is my specialty. I am also well versed in traditional music notation, (both reading and writing, including basic, to scoring), lead sheets and chord charts, and the Nashville Numbers System. I also have a thorough knowledge of theory and an interesting and unique technique of teaching it in a way that makes it easy to comprehend and apply instantly. I also teach music business and career development, covering contracts, touring, recording, and various ways to make a living in the music business. I also have experiences in teaching students with special needs (autistic, learning disabilities, etc.), and I will consider special students who show an exceptional aptitude or passion for music. I am also from a family of teachers. My father was a music teacher with a Phd in music education as well as chairman of the music dept of a school district, and my mother was an elementary school teacher, singer, and actress.
