I provide beautiful wedding, special event, avant garde, boudoir, newborn, maternity, glamour and fine art portrait photography services.
I am dedicated to creating candid, natural and elegant images. My goal is to create images that evoke emotion and move the viewer. I consider myself more than just a photographer. I am an artist who takes time to know her subjects and to understand who they are and what they are looking for in their portraits.
My Newborn works have been published in "Cute Babies" by Better Photo and much of my work has been shown in local galleries. Please view my images and video slideshows.
I enjoy creating a work of art around each of my clients. I want to create more than a simple portrait. I want to take the image beyond photography. I enjoy working with people and love what I do for them.

This was not my first experience working with Paula Showen and I can tell you that each photo shoot has been a work of art done by a true professional. Paula takes the time to have all her thoughts and ideas ready whether you are in her studio or out on location. Paula has photographed many of my family members and each one has been a wonderful experience but far above the rest she took my wedding photos and turned them into a storybook day that I can look at on the special DVD she created and carefully put beautiful music to the pictures. I am so pleased with all of the work Paula has done and I recomend her to everyone. If you are looking for a top knotch professional photographer than look no further than Paula Showen she is the best!

Our family went to Showmar Photography & Precious Portraits by Paula to have our little ones' first 'glamor shots'. Our daughter was just two months old at the time, and we were weary about her fussiness and attitude towards taking pictures. However, Paula remained very patient with us throughout the whole session. We are incredibly satisfied with her results! The pictures are clear and beautiful. She uses very pretty props and is very creative when working with babies/children. We are anxious to make another appointment to see Paula again for our next session!

Paula did a great job for us. I had her take pictures of my daughter so that I could send them to some modeling agencies and we were lucky enough to sign a contract for my 10 year old daughter with a local, reputable agency. Thanks Paula!! I will keep you posted.

Every time I watch the DVD of the pictures of my daughter, Lauren's
wedding, I smile, cry and laugh. We had the most spectacular day with friends and family, and NOTHING can capture the moment like the pictures Paula took. Let me add that Paula is my dear cousin and I have observed her photography from the onset. Her passion and creativity never cease to amaze me. She absolutely loves her art and takes great pride and joy in all her work. Also, she was not the photographer we hired for the wedding. That person, unfortunately, did not take his work seriously and the photography reflects this. I highly recommend Paula's work. A true artist and best of all a wonderful human being!! We had Paula do family photos and my son's senior pictures. They turned out amazing, we are thrilled with the pictures and get a lot of compliments on them. She not only had great setting ideas but also let us try some of our own, too. Great experience, I would highly recommend Paula to anyone!

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. It is so easy to hire a photographer, but not easy to find honest and talented artists. Be sure to check at least 3 references and view printed samples of the photographers work.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. 1. How long have you been a professional photographer?
2. Do you edit your work?
3. How many great images can I depend on?
4. Do you have samples of indoor and outdoor work that I can view?
5. May I preview your contract?
6. Do you have references that I can contact?
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. It's very important to have an idea of what you are expecting from your photographer and to communicate your expectations so that you and your photographer are working together to achieve your goals. Some goals to be prepared with:
1. Determine your budget and discuss all options with your me.
2. Check the quality of work.
3. Review web pages and sample work . Does the my style fall in line with your expectations.
3. Determine who you will appoint to guide me in arranging family members. This is important during wedding and event shoots.
4. Review testimonials and available videos/photos.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. My work goes beyond just photography. I am artistic and love to create a work of art featuring my subjects. I take a relaxed approach to my photo shoots, putting the client at ease.
I also know how it feels to not like being photographed and what people want to see in their images. I make every effort to edit my work in order to produce an image that you can be proud of.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. I love making people happy. It's very important to me to have satisfied customers!
My favorite type of work is with babies and toddlers.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. Q: Will I edit my work? A: Always! Once I'm finished with my edits, I send a link to where my customers can examine their proofs. At this stage, I ask clients for any additionally desired edits. By the time you get your product, your work is very "finished" and beautiful.
Q: Do you do family portraits? Yes, both in studio and outdoor work. I use parks and beaches for my outdoor work.
Q: Do you do pet portraits? Yes, in outdoor settings.
Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?
A. I am truly dedicated to providing quality, artistic works of art. I am also very honest and will do my best to exceed your expectations. I consider myself a "down to earth" type that works hard to make clients happy.
Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. With each new job, I find that I'm more proud than the job before, and yet when I look back on earlier works, I'm very proud of those, too. This is a difficult question to answer, because I take pride in all of my work and strive to achieve a high level of quality. There is nothing more gratifying than to see true happiness in my clients when they see their pictures for the first time. That's when I feel pride the most!

Sitting Fees due in advance of your shoot:
(2 hours/up to 3 people):$50 - Non refundable
(2 hours/up to 4 people) $75 - Non-refundable
Please contact us for photo shoots of more than 4 people.
If we do photos on location, we charge a mileage fee of ($.40/mile) for locations outside of the " West Pasco County " area.

Q. What are you currently working on improving?
A. I'm constantly striving to improve in all areas of photography. I find that each shoot improves over the last and I never want that to stop!
