Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Just get three estimates... To many estimates cause confusion and second guessing which just makes a hard decision even harder.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. If I were a customer I would like to know that my contractor has me in mind and not the bottom dollar, also this extended warranty being offered by some new companies for ten years for workmanship is just a way to make you believe you're getting a great deal. These guys have not even been in business long enough and a warranty is only as good as the business that offers it.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Always have as much information as possible about the project you are about to have done, then let the estimator fine tune the information to your satisfaction.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. My company has been in business for 20 yrs. with the same name and numbers, I also supervise all operations that my company performs. I have never failed to stand behind my work and will continue to do so with pride and confidence.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. The satisfaction I garner from each job is off the scale, I enjoy making peoples homes look and feel happier. Also, going to different parts of the city and meeting new people all the time has its benefits.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. The most commonly asked question is when can you start. My answer is always after the current job is complete because I only do one job at a time in order to keep each job my main focus.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. My favorite story about work is when my son looked over at me and said "How do you do this every day?" I responded that this is what I enjoy and that's what it's all about!

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. If all the people who needed a roof knew about me... they wouldn't doubt that I respect my profession and that each and every job is what makes me tick.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I decided to become a contractor when the job demand was really high and there wasn't a whole lot of people wanting to be a roofing contractor, I am also a building contractor but my main passion is roofing.

Q. What are your most common types of jobs?

A. Re-roofing homes for the private home-owner. This service bring me the most satisfaction as a contractor and I plan on doing this as long as there are homes needing to be made happy!

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. We re-roofed a home that was 98 years old and it felt good to know that that home has been preserved for someone in the future.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. Yes, there are mandatory classes that all contractors have to have to maintain their license.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. Solar shingles, Green building , The list is becoming endless with new and exciting systems.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. A two story metal roof system in a historic district involving pre-approval, board meetings, and a very happy customer. This job took us 36 hrs. and the cost was $17,500.00

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. Pricing for roofing systems are usually based on material x 2 = cost + tax = total

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. Make sure you take the first 30 cents from every dollar to have for taxes and dues.

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. Why aren't you a member of the BBB? I was a member for a few years and the dues kept going up with no oversight of this entity, I realized that I have to maintain my reputation with my work and I am held to the same standards of every other contractor in Florida whether or not I was a member of the BBB.
