Survey findings and summary
Thumbtack.com, in partnership with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, has released the new results from the second annual Thumbtack.com Small Business Survey. The 2013 study draws upon data from over 7,000 small business owners nationwide and shows that Orlando improved its overall grade for small business friendliness, moving from a 'C-' in 2012 to a 'C' this year.
Some of the key findings for Orlando include:
- Small business owners gave Orlando a 'C+' for its regulatory systems and a 'B-' for its licensing and permitting requirements. Within Florida, Orlando ranked higher than Miami, though it trailed Jacksonville and Tampa.
- Florida slipped slightly overall, dropping from a 'C' grade in 2012 to a 'C-' this year. Florida performed well in several categories, including earning a 'B+' for its tax code and a 'B' for the ease of hiring additional employees in the state.
