Get home inspections by a licensed general contractor.

It doesn't get any better than this. I can pinpoint any issues that may present a problem down the road in your new home, and tell you what you need to do for repair. There's never a mileage charge, and we travel from Daytona Beach to Tampa, and everywhere in-between.

We are also available for 4-point insurance inspections, wind mitigations, and mold inspections. All results are communicated to our customers in an easy-to-understand, neutral, non-threatening manner. In other words, I'm not going to tell someone not to buy their dream house because the porch light doesn't work, or the fan in the bathroom makes a loud noise.

Home inspections can usually be booked within 24 hours in most cases. Don't get caught up hiring "Cheap Charlie" because he's a few dollars cheaper. If you need an attorney or a dentist, do you look for the cheapest one? I don't, and I don't think you do either. Hire the best in the field: Mark's Guaranteed Home Inspections.

"The bitterness of poor quality and lack of customer service lingers long after the sweetness of cheap price is forgotten."

I've known Mark for nearly 20 years. I've used him on many home and building inspections over the years. I've also used Mark for a number of projects that required him to pull the permit before the project. I have always been happy with his work and reports.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. You want a home inspector that not only knows what to look for, but what it takes to repair the problem. Some problems are a simple fix, others require more involved time and labor. A home inspector who is also a contractor, and a former real estate investor with over 100 houses bought and sold is someone who knows his stuff. We're not the cheapest guys in town, but we're not the most expensive either. Always look for quality over price. That way you'll never go wrong.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. A customer is going to look at that "perfect" house and think about the schools, the location to work, and the layout. This is the initial contact. After this, before a client hires a home inspector, they should walk around the outside of the house noting any cracks in the foundation or stucco, and make note of it. Go inside the property and turn on every light and open and close each and every window. Turn the dishwasher on, try out the garbage disposal, and flush all the toilets. If there are any problems, make a note of it.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. What licenses do you currently hold? Are you a member of any professional home inspection organization? Have you supervised the repair of a home? Have you or your crew installed a re-roof? When I did my first home inspection, I already had a track record of buying and selling over 100 properties. Some I wholesaled, and some I rehabbed and resold. My first home inspection was not really my first home inspection. I had 10 years of buying and analyzing under my belt already.
