FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I watched my father drawing as I was growing up. He was my teacher and my critic. I learned accuracy and proportion from my dad. My portraits were done in pencil and almost always in black and white. When I went to college, I learned about color. I stopped drawing and started painting. Color became my ally. There was no turning back. I never really wanted to do anything else but paint.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Every painting is a custom creation. For clients who would like a portrait of a loved one, I will work with the individual from a favorite photo or take photos myself to create a memory in oil for my client. Many of my clients live on the ocean and would like a painting of marine life to reflect their feelings of a tropical lifestyle. I have many paintings to choose from or I can create something special just for them.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look for someone who has a style that you admire. Visit the website of the artist and view their paintings and read about their accomplishments. If possible, read their client's testimonials. Don't be afraid to speak to the artist and get an idea if he or she is a good fit for you.
