Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Our most common types of jobs are 15-25 year old roofs that are in need of replacement. We will then install, shingle, tile and metal depending on the customers choice. Our shingle warranties have now been upgraded to 50 year non-prorated material and labor warranty.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Check references and make sure that they are properly insured and licensed. Also, make sure the company has been in business over 10 years. Another good place to check is roofing trade organizations such as the Pinellas County Roofing Association and the Florida Roofing and Sheet metal Association. Most importantly, check with your family and friends.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Try not to have your roof replaced in the rainy season

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Do you use subcontractors?
How long have you been in business?
Do you require a deposit?
Do you provide lien releases?

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I was 19 years old and attending college and during our breaks, would work at a roofing company for extra income. I finished college and decide to work there full time. I literally started from the ground up and learned every aspect about roofing

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. As a roofing contractor in Florida, we have to attend 14 hours of schooling every 2 years in order to maintain our contractors license. The education provides us the most up to date code changes, safety procedures and workers compensation requirements.
