Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Lately, we have been getting more antique vehicals that customers are looking to completely restore. However, all categories have been evenly steady. We love how we never know what is going to come in the door the next day, this keeps it interesting! No job too big or too small for us!

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We treat every job as if it were our own. We sew everything by hand and hardly ever use kits (unless the customer already purchased them, then we would install it for them). Also, we specialize in all 4 categories (automotive, marine, furniture and commercial applications) whereas other upholstery shops may not.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. We enjoy how every job is different! It is like you never know what kind of job will come in the door next! This keeps it very interesting! We like to offer quality work at fair, resonable prices. We also love seeing our customers happy. Once a service is completed and the customer is genuinely pleased with the quality of work, it means a lot to us.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. If I left my vehicle or boat at your shop overnight would it be safe?
-Yes. Anything that a customer brings to us is under lock and key and under surveillance at all times.

What is the approximate turn-around time for an average service you provide?
-It really depends on the jobs that are also getting done, but, anywhere from a couple days to a week.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. The upholstery trade has been in the family for four generations. We have worked on everything from classic cars, to new cars from dealers. From antique furniture to nursing home chairs. From little john boats to large 60' yahts. Also, cars for HBO movies, restaurant booths, motorcycles, and fire truck seats!

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. O'Neal & Sons upholstery is a family owned and operated business spanning four generations. The owners grandpa, Jack O'Neal started the upholstery trade back when they had fabric covered airplane wings. He later passed it on to his son, Jack Jr. who later passed down the upholstery trade to his sons who are now teaching the next generation all they know. We hope to carry on this legacy!

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. We recently did an antique chair and couch in a beautiful printed fabric. The couch had a broken back leg that we repaired and the bad springs were replaced. Some extra padding was added to the furniture. To finish it off, it was decorated with matching gimp and finishing nail heads spaced every so often. It turned out great. It took about a week to complete the two pieces of furniture. The cost of an antique couch is anywhere from $500.00-600.00 labor plus the cost of material the customer picks out. The cost of an antique chair is anywhere from $275.00-350.00 labor plus material.
