A. It's not enough that someone in my profession states that they can provide the production and post-production editing services needed to complete the assignment, for there are many people that can drive a car, but many of those will at some point in time end up having an accident. So, it's important to find those video production specialists that are at the top of their game.
A. Again, anyone can pick up a camera and say that they are a skilled videographer, but the proof is in the work that they produce. And be careful about that work, when you are hiring someone. I know many individuals that "borrowed" the work of others, and showed it as their own. It's a terrible thing, to be duped like that. But it does happen. So, make note of exactly what their skill level is in all aspects of shooting and editing.
A. Ask exactly what they did as it related to a specific production (video). Do the research and make sure you are hiring a true professional, that can get the job done on-time and on-budget. You may come across someone that charges half what I charge, for instance. But you have to ask yourself, how many total hours will it take at the lower rate, to do what I can do and have been doing successfully for some time now. Ask them who they've worked for; who their clients are. I've worked for some of the largest brands in the U.S. as a creative director, broadcast producer/director, photographer/cinematographer, and editor.
