FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing can be complicated, especially if there is a focus on offering individualized pet care. There are many things to consider when quoting fees. Depending upon the services requested, multiple pets can be very time consuming so that has to be taken into consideration. Holidays, length of visit requested, travel time, last minute requests, very early morning or very late night visits are normally priced at a higher rate. Shorter "welfare check" visits are customary priced at a lower rate. The number of consecutive and / or total visits can have an effect on pricing also. If over night care services are needed, the fee could be effected by the sitter's arrival and departure time at the client's home, along with the number of daytime visits requested, in addition to the over night stays. It all comes down to time....How much time is required to do the job, correctly and professionally, in order for the pets and their parents to be happy when all is said and done!!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, I am a member of NAPPS - National Association of Professional Pet Sitters and they offer members seminars, research, and all types of continuing education to keep Pet Care Providers up to date so we can provide the best pet care available.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've been an animal lover all of my life. When I became a Social Worker, I worked with abused children as a Therapist. The use of animals proved very helpful to both the kids and me, as it provided a casual, non-threatening atmosphere for kids to share. Later, I decided that animals were not only my passion but I wanted to work with them full time. Thus, here I am!!! I love it!
