I assist in encouraging a high level of understanding and obedience with your canine in a companion relationship. If you're frustrated because your dog jumps on people, pulls on the leash, chews the furniture or doesn't come when called, I offer a range of dog training courses that can help. I teach real-world dog training methods that strengthen the respect your dog has for you, and you for your dog.

Question and answer

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Practice good behaviors – Whether your dog attends my intensive dog board and train Tampa program or just has a few hours of obedience training, what has been learned needs to be practiced. Keep up with reinforcing the commands and rewarding the dog as often as possible. Good habits will quickly become ingrained in your dog’s behavior.

Don’t make exceptions – If you’re working on training your dog to stay off the couch, don’t make exceptions to the rule when you want a good snuggle. Establish your boundaries and stick with them. Dogs don’t understand inconsistencies and the “exception” can open the door to undesired behaviors.

Praise good behaviors – When a dog executes a command perfectly, reward him. Whether it’s with a kind word, a scratch on the head or a treat, do something to let him know you’re pleased. When good behaviors are constantly reinforced, they become part of a dog’s natural actions.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. 'm Cindy Tuley of Elite Dog Academy. I spent my entire life around animals, especially dogs. My passion and interest in animals led me to a Biology degree from the University of West Florida. Since then I've worked in animal behavior/training at two AZA accredited zoos with a variety of animals ranging from otters to wolves. Dogs have always been first in my life, so I decided to make a career change and become a dog trainer.
