A Good Orderly Direction offers the following senior move management services to those seniors who are either moving to assisted living, independent living, moving to a smaller residence or out of state:
- Downsizing (determining w/client approval what items aren't necessary to move to new location. I.e. 5 sets of china, 2 sofa/loveseats, dining table seating 12)
- Packing/Unpacking
- Moving
- Estate sales
- Donations (inventory items and take to charities to receive a tax receipt for client)
- Shipping items to family or friends
- Transfer utilities to new residence
- Picture hanging
- Hooking up TVs and computers
- Concierge services (trips to doctor visits, grocery shopping, bill paying, trips to hair salon/barber, house cleaning, daily/weekly check-in)
We are not your typical movers in that we deal with the emotional aspect of moving our seniors who have lived in their homes for many, many years and transitioning them to their new home. We have experience working with clients with dementia, clients with aphasia, hard of hearing or sight. We have been trained to recognize relocation stress syndrome and know how to slow down the process when necessary.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. Our works stands out from your typical movers in that we are trained to work with seniors and the emotional problems that may arise during the move. We have specific training in RSS (relocation stress syndrome) in the elderly population, dementia and aphasia. Movers move but senior move managers offer a complete package of services to help the senior transition from home to home with little interruption.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. What I like best about my job is when the senior sees their belongings in the new home. Their eyes become wide and they are truly amazed. They thought the process would be painful and that they'd have to do a lot of work but we take care of it all. When they sit on their sofa and look around they typically say, "I couldn't have done this without you." Oh that statement tugs on my heart strings!
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. Some common questions customers ask are:
Q: I know that I can't take all my furniture with me when I move so what do I do with it?
A: Let me run an estate sale for you.
Q: Will my furniture fit into the new home?
A: I have the floor plans of various communities' models and will take measurements of their furniture. Then I plug those numbers into my floor planning software and can show the client just how their furniture should be arranged to allow for maximum flow.
