About
Please note: If serious about lessons with me, please call Earthshaking Music or visit my website. My quotes are posted and my blog showcases what I can provide for you. Thanks. Music has always been a part of my life. I first began taking music classes as a teen when I was accepted into an arts-based magnet school. I studied classical voice and musical theater. I went into college as a music major (B.A. Music Composition, Auburn University) and continued to study voice and composition. I decided to go into teaching elementary a couple of years ago, and have found great pleasure in it. I learned so much in the elementary school system, and I started to apply it to teaching music. I continue to write songs, compose and perform under the music project Nerdkween. I am eager to inspire people to create for themselves. Are you interested in learning how to sing? Whether you want to build self-confidence, prepare for an event, or you want to pursue a career, I can give you the support you need. I focus on breathing techniques, posture, diction, articulation and musicianship. I can help you learn your favorite song with ease. You will learn to sing stronger, higher, and with complete confidence in all styles, including gospel, blues, rock, pop, jazz, musical theater, classical, country, and opera with amazing high notes, great power and control, and an amazing vocal technique that will last a lifetime. People wonder how many lessons are needed to become a great performer. That depends on you and how devoted you are to be the best you can possibly be. Think of it this way: the best athletes in the world (and singers) continue to train in order to produce the best results. Are you interested in playing piano? I can teach you how to play your favorite song! I can design your lessons around the song or songs you would like to learn. My specialty is in songs with vocals, and I will break down a song for you to teach you to play. Also, you'll learn exercises to develop playing technique and music theory knowledge, as well as practical skills, such as ear training, sight reading, and notation to give you the confidence to play the style of music you prefer. I can also teach guitar. If you're starting out, I can show you the ropes. Guitar is a wonderfully personal and versatile instrument. It is great to be able to play while singing during auditions or intimate performances. If you want to learn your favorite song, I can coach you to success!

My son has been taking guitar lessons from Ms. Arrington for almost 2 years, and he loves them. She is patient, supportive, very friendly, and obviously loves what she does. In his case, she endorses his uniqueness while teaching him the basics he needs to maximize his personal style.

Monica is a wonderful instructor. She is warm, caring and very knowledgable. You will not only receive excellent instruction to improve technique, but you will also learn valuable music theory! She contours each lesson to our overall goals and what needs work each week. She makes music fun! I would highly recommend her as a teacher!

Ms. Arrington has been my son's voice teacher for years and was instrumental in helping him to successfully be selected to attend the DeKalb School of the Arts! She is a great instructor and I decided to take voice lessons from her as well. My ability to sing has greatly improved.

Monica Arrington is an excellent teacher, singer, and musician. Her dedication and passion is something that many of the individuals today lack, simply because most of them seek out shortcuts to get ahead and rob great people of their precious time and money. I've known Monica for almost 30 years. She has always been surrounded by music, whether it was in the church, in the classroom, around her family and friends, and even in nature. When it comes to music, Monica is the perfect choice.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Most of my students are singers looking to improve their singing, and prepare for a performance or audition. They are also looking for advice and tips on being a working performer. I also give lessons in beginner guitar and beginner piano.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would encourage potential students to ask for qualifications, training, and background in music. As for myself, I went to school for music, studied classical voice in high school and in college. I currently work as a singer/songwriter in Atlanta with connections to other performers.
