Fine Arts School of Essence

I currently attend Georgia State University as a Psychology Major, minoring in music. I have been teaching piano for the past 4 years and have played for 13 years. I will be attending Emory University to obtain my Masters in Family Counseling, along with Piano Performance. I am classically trained, but also have a background in the genres of Jazz, Gospel, and Popular Culture.

I teach from a three part-series book called Alfred Piano Books for beginning children and adults. The books can be found online through Amazon.com, ranging from $20-$30 in total. The piano lessons consists of warm-up exercises, playing ability, theory, and classical pieces. (Classical pieces come with experience.)

Customers love that I have the patience to continue to teach them, even with they make mistakes. I have found that being patient with a student helps them build courage on improving their skills.

Some student qualify to participate in Piano Contests that are held around the state, but all students participate in an annual recital in the month of June. Please call for more information. I cannot always respond to email.

She has taught me for 6months and my progress from day one to now has been amaxzing. She is very patient and works with your learning style. Brittany is very honest about your progress and will always let you know what you have done well, what you need to work on and what you will be ready for as your teaching continues.

    Brittany!
I'm a nursing major with Music as my hobby. I've been receiving piano and voice lessons from you for a year and a half now. Because of your patient persistence, you have taken me places musically that I have never been. I am able to perform for my church family now, as well as the open mics at Apache Cafe's "I Do Music" Tuesdays... you are so very humbly talented, not to mention a humorous teacher. I never feel awkward, because your insight on the people you teach speaks volumes. You all will NEVER be disappointed!

    Thanks Much,
    Robin S

I have been a student of Brittany's for 3 years. I have always loved the piano and decided to finally take lessons. It has been a wonderful experience! Brittany is very patient, focused and flexible. She always listens carefully to what I would like to accomplish and tries very hard to help me make this happen. Her enthusiasm for music in general and piano in particular inspires me to try to do my best. I wholehearedly recommend Brittany to anyone who is interested in playing the piano, whether just for personal pleasure or for reaching more lofty goals.

This woman is a phenomenal teacher. I'm a singer and song writer, but didn't know a flip about an instrument. I had a beautiful song in my heart one day and I wrote it, I came to Ms. Brittany Garret and she immediately hit me off with the right tunes, then taught me MY OWN SONG! I played it at a small night spot, and the crowd LOVED it. I'm continuing my lessons with the aspirations of being one of the Greats. I truly believe lessons with Brittany will take me there.
