FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with a new customer, I do my best to assess their needs, ensure that I am the right choice for their family and their dog, and help them select the right program to get the results they want. The client is able to get to know me through this process, and I am able to learn more about their specific situation and their dog's needs.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 5 years of professional experience training dogs, and years prior to that working with horses. I studied psychology in college (which is a large part of dog training!) and have worked with hundreds of different dogs, owners from all backgrounds and situations, and just about every breed, size, and temperament of dog. I am affiliated with the International Association of Canine Professions (IACP), so you can trust that I hold myself to high standards. I also put high value in continuing education. This industry is an ever-changing one in terms of methods, belief systems, and ways in which we offer clients service. I make sure to keep that conversation open by participating in many discussions with dog trainers all over the world and by reading new literature, attending seminars, and keeping up-to-date with industry studies on canine behavior and training.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always loved animals from a young age. I wanted to understand them to a deeper extent than most. I grew up working with horses, and eventually went on to work with horses professionally before entering the world of dogs. I started working with dogs as a veterinary assistant, and realized there was a huge gap between what animal medical professionals know about dog behavior and training, and what owners should know in order to successfully raise a great family member. I began working with a corporation to become certified in training dogs, and eventually went on to open my own business so that I could give clients amazing results and lifetime support, instead of focusing on a small list of items that the former corporation would allow me to teach.
