I'm a private guitar and bass instructor/teacher with 40 years of experience playing, performing, composing, recording, producing, and studying music.

My focus is on instrumental music instruction and proper technique, although some voice coaching is available. You or your child will learn to play the instrument. I instruct reading, scale and key studies, music theory, composition, notation, ear training, proper fingering, and posture.

I will travel to you, if you are in the Buford/Cumming/Lawrenceville/Duluth/Gainesville area of N. Georgia. Pricing depends on travel time and mileage.

I compose my lesson plans. The student's material requirements are a playable instrument, a sturdy music stand, a 2" loose leaf note book, and plastic sheet protectors.

Recording and computer musical production classes are also available.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Years of experience is fundamental requirement. Reading musical notation in my opinion is also a fundamental requirement. I know a lot of find instructors and players that do not read, but in my opinion that is a major limitation. Do not settle on just any musical instructor, look around and find the best one you can find or afford.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Music is a theoretical concept art open to endless research, development and exploration. Styles are not music, styles are directions or flavors of the exploration of the art.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. How long have you been playing? How long have you been teaching/instructing? How many students do you presently have? What is the earliest/latest age to begin? What can I expect to accomplish? And How long will it take? I'm not trying to be a professional musician, do I still need the best instructor I can find?

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Are you passionate about music? Is musical training something you will continue or a passing interest? Will I commit the time required to succeed or excel? Do I want this?

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I get results and you will learn if you apply yourself to the techniques presented. I also have a work ethic and expect the same my clients and students. Anything worth doing or achieving requires work and effort. There are no short cuts.
