Introduction: We are a friendly, bilingual husband-and-wife team (Rob is from Atlanta, Ga. and Marta is from Guatemala City, Guatemala) giving private and group lessons in the following areas: English as a second language, Spanish as a a second language, test preparation for ACT, SAT, TOEFL, GMAT, and the U.S. Citizenship Exam, and support for elementary and high school literature, grammar, writing and social studies classes. Marta is a certified high school teacher in Guatemala, and Rob has diverse experience teaching special education with Atlanta public schools and social studies, ESL, literature, English and grammar in Guatemala. We live in Clarkston, Georgia and can come to you anywhere in the metro Atlanta area, or you can come to us. We like teaching home school groups, and Marta especially likes teaching Spanish to children. We hope to hear from you soon.

As a mom to one of Mr. Rutherfords high school students, I always appreciated that he had time to discuss my daughter's progress, and was willing to go the extra mile so that she could do better in his class. I was also a guest at one of the debates that were held in his class, and I was impressed with the organization and the work that he and the students had done.

I had the opportunity to learn from Mr. Rutherford for three years. In those years, I saw in him a compassionate teacher, driven to help his students understand a broader world, to look at issues from a broader, more understanding and caring perspective. Mr. Rutherford has a true spirit of charity that lies within every great teacher; I learned so much from him, his knowledge, and his experience!

Mr. Rutherford provided both ACT and SAT (CR + Writing) prep for my son during the 2011-12 school year. I'm happy to say my son has been accepted into his first choice school, among others. Mr. Rutherford was patient, dedicated, and open to trying different strategies to best prepare my child. I am duly grateful. I would have preferred one-on-one tutoring, but it was not logistically possible (and saved me some money).

Rob Rutherford, to what I can recall, has an exceptionally good if not excellent way to challenge students when testing. He uses different "tactics" in order to recognize words and understand them completely. His patience while lecturing allows the student to completely comprehend the subject that is being taught. Personally I would ask Mr. Rutherford once again to help me out with practice SAT and ACT testing since he knows them both significantly.

He has been my history teacher for about 5 years. He has helped me a lot in learning how to do my work independantly. Mr. Robert is always there whenever a student needs help to comprehend a task.
