- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Coming from a real estate sales background; I did extremely well. It was when the recession hit in 2008, I realized I knew how to earn money but I didn't know how to manage it. Soon I realized I was not the only professional in this dilemma. I and several of my peers started to face extreme financial challenges. These challenges could have been avoided, but due to financial ignorance we all faced the same fate. Learning the very expensive lesson and paying the huge cost of financial illiteracy. It was then I realized Business Owners/Taxpayers needed more education & training on how to navigate the often frightening waters of financial management, accounting and taxes. Determined to never be in this predicament again; I went back to school and completed my undergraduate degree in Business Administration/Accounting. I wanted to learn how manage money, run my businesses, and never repeat the same mistakes again. However, it was when I was in graduate school; I began to notice the landscape shift in how the top accountants were performing their services. There was a huge shift towards accountants providing value added services such as Business Advisement infused with technology consulting. Businesses who were surviving or thriving the recession embraced technology and DIY accounting software. They were employing accounting software not bookkeepers, and excess office staff were being replaced by efficient user-friendly systems. The leverage of Human Capital became vital; having an employee perform more than one job function and of course outsourcing. In efforts not to repeat the same mistakes; I started to train extensively in the areas of best practices(Lean six-sigma), taxation and accounting technology. I became very passionate about being of service to others; so I began training Business Owners on how to keep their books, cloud technology, and the importance of best practices. I taught tax payers on how to prepare their own taxes and how to go into business for themselves. The rest is history because it all fell into place. I am doing what I love sharing my experiences in hopes others can learn and accomplish their goals.
