Introduction: MY work stands out because my training is contoured to every dog and owner differently to reflect the best success for all involved. I believe that training should be fun not dreadful. I also train in a manner in which is natural for the dog. I love helping to strengthen the bond between dog and owner.

I am a father to pure Great Dane, a fawn male who is two years old now. My boy is 155lbs and is truly the epitome of the “gentle giant”. He is the largest dog (and best behaved) in the neighborhood. He travels everywhere with me and is a fixture on my weekend visits to Home Depot… However, it wasn’t always this way. My wife and I got him as a puppy at 12 weeks. He was the usual clumsy and vivacious puppy, as you can image. I knew the puppy was going to be more than a handful if we didn't get started out on the right path early on. My breeder introduced me to Denise Brooks who is a large breed trainer and very experienced with Great Danes. I wasn't sure I needed a trainer, having grown up with dogs all my life and four of them being Danes. The old adage is true: “You don’t know what you don’t know until someone (with perspective) can show you.” Denise coached me for 6 weeks in my boys’ early life and it continues to pay dividends every time we meet others on the street. She showed me how to use a firm hand and to read the dog’s body language. Through practice and consistent technique; I have a dog that responds to verbal, hand and whistle commands. A Great Dane is a huge powerful breed that you cannot physically dominate. Good behavior and rapport is critical in order to maintain control and discipline. Denise taught me command & control is mental: not physical. It’s also important to be consistent and keep a regular practice routine. What Denise helped me with was perspective. While I understood what to do, she helped me communicate it better to the dog; on his level. Last Saturday, I was at the local shopping center. My boy was with me and he always draws a crowd given his regal stature. One lady came up to my dog to greet and pet him. “He loves attention” I told her. She gushed “oh I have a fawn too, how old is yours?” In short order, we figured out they were the same age from the same litter – brothers!! She said, “But your guy is so calm and well behaved, not like my boy.” I said “it’s all about training at an early age getting a good coach.” After comparing notes; she knew Denise and her work. She said “Wow, that’s some difference between the boys…. We didn't do much training, we just let him do what he wanted to do.” Go ahead and get started, get coach. It doesn't matter what age the dog is. It’s important to have a well-rounded dog throughout their lifespan. It’s critical when the dog stands seven feet tall and can knock you over with ease. Danes are big dogs with big brains and very smart. Denise Brooks has the expertise to teach you how to communicate, command and control your family member so they are well balanced members of society. Thinking canines and their humans need a good coach. Denise Brooks is one of the best. Her firm is Think K9 and you can follow her and champions on the professional dog show circuit through her Facebook page.

We have a 2 yr old golden with numerous training issues.Denise gave us the advice and tools we needed to deal with them. Our dog would stubbornly challenge us while leash walking, he also thought he was the dominant one in our house.Denise showed us how to take control of our dog, teach him patience and made him more enjoyable to have around.

Jackson, our NEW chocolate lab was never the same on his VERY first day of training. Denise came in, took control with just a few simple but firm commands and connected within minutes. She not only bonded with our family pet but with our family. I have two boys that looked forward to exploring new adventures with their new puppy every week! Because of Think K-9... we are more confident in managing our big ball of energy :-) The Marshalls
