Why is it that some people take piano lessons for years and are still unable to really play and yet others are playing music within a few weeks or months? The difference is in the teaching system.
The system I use will help you make sense of why you are doing what you do on the keyboard, fast. If you have taken lessons for years but can't get all the pieces to come together and make sense, stop blaming yourself and try my way.
And, if you or your child are just beginning, make sure you choose a teacher who can give you a "top-down" view to understanding music. There's a difference. I guarantee it.
Learn to:
Play chords in weeks; not years
Play by ear and by sight
Write your own music
Read and write lead sheets
Think in numbers like professional studio musicians
Improvise
Accompany a soloist or group
Play keyboard in a band
Play what you hear on the radio
Read and write "lead sheets"
Create lead lines to sample over pre-recorded music for home recording projects
Create chord progressions for someone else's melody and lyrics
Play Gospel-Jazz progressions you hear the mass choirs use
Mom's and Dads: The reason kids don't want to stick with piano lessons is that most of the time they are boring! If you've tried to bribe, beg and threaten them into learning to play, try my system before you give up.
Music will enrich their lives and raise their intelligence levels (it's true; Google it and see). The problem is, they need to be excited about what they're learning. It needs some rhythm and some flavor. Once they realize they can play something that sounds cool, they are more likely to tolerate the more tedious brain work necessary to become an accomplished musician.
My personal guarantee: Take two lessons. At the end of the second lesson, if you do not agree that it is the most logical approach to music you've ever seen OR, if you wish to discontinue your lessons with me for any reason whatsoever, just let me know and I will refund both lessons with a handshake, a smile and the best of regards.

A. Music is very logical and very mathematical. Once you know the pattern of one major chord, you can create ALL of the major chords. Learn to recognize the distances in 1/2-steps between each note of a chord or scale. Then practice duplicating that pattern starting on each different note and progressing through all 12 keys.
A. My teaching system is results-oriented. By explaining HOW musical notes work together logically and mathematically, people are able to learn to play much sooner than students taking traditional lessons.
A. I love watching students; excitement as they realize they can play current songs that they hear on their favorite radio station in just a matter of a few months or even weeks in some cases.
A. Playing the piano is one of the greatest joys in life. It is never to late to learn or too early to start.
