Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. It's always good to hire as far in advance as possible. You never know when the professional you want is already booked! Also, have some questions prepared to ask them, like, how long have they been filming weddings? How much do they charge for travel? Do they have backup equipment? Do they have back-up shooters? These are important factors that can really separate the amateurs from the pros.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. It's good to know what kind of equipment your videographer is going to use and how intrusive it might be. Do they want to set up a lighting kit? Do they use on camera lights? Tripods, monopods? What kind of microphones do they use? Get answers to these questions, and make sure they can explain their equipment to you, as well.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. You should ask how long they've been filming and editing weddings. Will they be filming it themselves, or one of their staff members? What kind of equipment will they be using? How many weddings have they edited? Do they have samples for you to view? These are all great questions to ask any videographer that you are considering hiring.
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. Buyers should have a pretty good idea of what type of video coverage and editing they want for their wedding day. Do they want the ceremony only? Ceremony and reception? Do they want the entire day? Well-wishes from your guests? The more you know the better prepared you will be to discuss your wedding with your vendors.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. What I enjoy most about my job is that no two weddings are ever the same. And, on top of that, every wedding is essentially a party. My job is to film people having a great time on one of the most important days of their lives. It doesn't get much more special than that!
