- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Regular classes are $60 per month. We do offer discounts for families and work with anyone who wants to train to find an affordable way to let them do so. Private lessons vary in price, depending on travel time. We don't have any additional fees for the Karate classes. We provide the uniform (or gi) after you register for the second month. We have no testing fees, or anything else except for your safety equipment.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Unless a person already has some training, we start by teaching proper technique and learning what will work best for the individual based on any physical limitations. We progress to teaching application of techniques and to strategies for the person's limitations, size, and other factors. We shape a self-defense program to best fit the individual.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 35 years of training in martial arts, including Aikido, boxing, Karate, and the US Marine Corps' hand-to-hand combat curriculum. I've been teaching martial arts and self-defense courses since 1988.
