Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. When looking for a personal trainer, you want to ensure they are certified through one of 5 nationally accredited and medically recognized organizations (ACE, ACSM, NSCA, NASM). You want to also ensure they carry professional liability insurance. Also see about getting a reference from a current or former client. And make sure you are constantly communicating with your trainer.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. I would find out what they know about different exercises that might make exercise harmful to me. I'd also be very wary of personal trainers who claim they can provide meal menus (that is illegal in Georgia), as well as trainers that push selling supplements unless they seem to be genuinely concerned about what will work for me or not.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Find out from the trainer what their style of training is, work out times and dates that work for them, and ensure they are on the right program and payment plan for their budget.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Consumers should be open and ready to answer and ask a lot of questions, and not just let price be their deciding factor; to be open to pay a bit more for that premium service.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Our trainers have degrees in Exercise Science/Physiology. They understand the basis of each movement the body makes coupled with the science behind each exercise - this means we know what exercises are correct for our clients to be doing for their safety and success. For many of our clients that are over 40 and/or have pre-existing conditions in which exercise could make it worse, this is a crucial factor in having a successful exercise program as well as a permanent lifestyle change.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. Not only is it a requirement to keep their certifications current, our trainers work closely together and are united in constantly improving themselves to keep up with all the latest industry standards help their clients become even more successful in their pursuit of a healthy lifestyle.
