FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Single lessons: $55/hour, $80/90 minutes $100/2 hours Group lessons: determined by number of people in group *Small groups: Each person has their individual strengths and weaknesses which must be addressed... then they come together as a whole... and group strengths and weaknesses are addressed.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first thing I do with a new student is have them sing something for me. This helps me to easily assess their strengths and weaknesses. The second thing I do is show them how to inhale and exhale using the diaphragm. Next, I introduce a series of exercises that will help them de-program the use of the throat muscles and engage the diaphragm to start pumping the air. These exercises will also start to reinforce pitch accuracy. Other exercises will start developing tonal placement and fluidity of motion. Songs are not actually sung until there is some master of the diaphragm inhaling and exhaling. All during this process we are looking at songs to sing that will reinforce the new muscle usage. If the student comes in with specific songs, we start applying the new principles to those songs. New exercises will be given as there is some mastery of existing ones....it is a building process.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Music from Catholic University, with a major of voice education. Since I still perform, when I can, I go to California to take voice master classes from Seth Riggs, vocal coach to the Stars.
