Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Security system take overs and gate system repairs. Our monitoring prices are awsome and make lots of customers wonder why they never looked at their bills and why no one ever gave them a break for their loyalty.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Ask LOTS of questions. Remember that the solution you look for right now is not only for right now; wha about the future. For example : Is my alarm panel locked out from another company if I decide to leave? Are my gates able to be retrofitted with new equipment if my unit should become beyond repair and need underground work? Do I need to call you for a Fire inspection or will you call me to set an appointment? These are just some of the questions somepeople fail to ask sales people when getting new equipment.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Have and idea of what type of system you are considering i.e. fire alarm, burglar alarm, access control, security camera, home automation, gate system. For gate systems make sure you have a clear area of operation for the motors and room for servicing equipment. Heavy shrubbery right next to any control panel makes for difficult and proper diagnosis for your system.
Make sure your High voltage electricity is within close proximity to your proposed equipment site. If not we will have to bring in an electrician to make this happen.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Good enough for my house doesn't work for us but good enough for your house and others to appreciate is. Attention to detail is key. We take the time to listen and ask questions to properly understand service issues or desires of your project.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Every installation is unique to us because not every customer wants the same thing. It brings us joy when we have customers who have different situations and problems they need solved. We are not into cookie cutter ideas, our job is to help you acheive the goal you want with the best service we can offer.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. Many contractors in this field who have done this for a long time pride themselves on the jobs they do because it is a direct reflection fo how they would want things they wanted done for them selves or family members. It sometimes takes quite a bit of creativity as well. Troubleshooting is a developed art; everyone has their own methods but they achieve the same goals. Sometimes we have to invent new ways to figure out a solution to a problem on the spot.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. We've been in the security industry for over 12 years and felt that with the proper qualifications we obtained it was best for us to start out on our own

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. We attend yearly trade shows which many of the manufacturs we deal with offer training with CE credits towards NICET and other test and measurement standards

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. Distributed wireless security systems and low cost in home automation equipment are at the forefront on this years

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. Hard work and perseverence. You need lots of capital to keep you afloat. This is an important industry in that its your customers life and safety involved. There are a lot of con artists and side shows who don't even have the qualifications we spent time to achieve
