FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It is straight forward $60/hour and most clients are fine with that for the more complex jobs. Some people like to have one price set in stone so I use a pricing guideline created by the "Graphics Guild" and it is internationally used and is basically an industry standard pricing and ethics guide. It takes away the complication. For example; a logo design for a non-profit company of 5 employees who have between $400,000 - $500,000 annual revenue, I would charge $1000.00. If a new small business was starting off and hadn't set revenue standards, etc I would charge $300. If Ford motor company hired me to redesign their logo with their billions of dollars of revenue, I would charge them at least $500,000. Advertising companies make this kind of money off of the big contracts all the time. $500,000 is selling it short of what I could for a company like Ford.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Absolutely! I read news feeds, magazines, books, partake in discussions constantly with my peers and basically live this stuff. I stay up on the new software environments versions Adobe releases and new practices. It has been said that there is no one as passionate about design and layout as me. I don't know about that, but I love what I do a lot.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I grew up in art and would draw a lot. In high-school I took a multimedia course that was an intro to graphic design; I was hooked and never looked back.
