Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Look for enthusiasm, patience, pertinent knowledge, confidence, and good manors. The litmus test for a good guide is would you want them to teach your small children how to swim in the ocean?

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Most people tip a food server 15-20% for bringing them food, but tip far less to an outdoor guide for bringing them back safely.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We aren't just the owners, we're also the guides

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I like helping people have fun doing something they've never done before.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Will we see big sharks?
I wish, and if we did, be happy, because they don't bite here on the Big Isle.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. Towing 3 tandem kayaks ( with clients in them ). My previous best was 2.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. CPR, 1st AID, Lifeguarding, paddling techniques, Hawaiiana ( all things related to Hawaii ), marine biology, oceanography,

Q. What is your greatest strength?

A. I've been told more than once that I have the patience of Job. Living in Hawaii constantly reminds you that not much gets done quickly, so relax and enjoy.
