Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Find someone with a good description of their services, with a well-organized and professional looking website, and with glowing customer testimonials.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. I wish I knew more about the history and music of the Great Highland Bagpipes. I wish I could tell more who a good bagpiper was and who wasn't so good.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. How long have you been performing? How many gigs have you played? What are some of the comments you have received from customers?

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Do they realize how loud the bagpipes are? Maybe they should consider the venue and - if inside - ask if there's another instrument that might work better, like the smallpipes, which I also perform with.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I am very sensitive to what the customer wants, and try to get as clear an idea of this before arriving to perform. Once there, I put on a good show.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love playing music that reaches people. Not everyone likes the bagpipes, but those that do tell me that I'm one of the best they have heard. Seeing tears come to their eyes - whether it's a funeral, wedding, or any other event - tells me I'm doing a good job.
