Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: My approach is a mix of documentary and dramatic portraiture. Through out the day I capture candid and key moments in a journalistic style and for the portraits I do a mix of the common soft airy look and well lit portraits with a bit of a noir style that have more of a commercial feel and look. I love photography and creating new work. Weddings give me an opportunity to create new images with great subjects that have great chemistry.

James was a fantastic photographer! He was punctual and very professional. He has the eye of an artist and captured the beauty of my wedding and reception in unique ways. I highly recommend James!

We haven't seen our photos yet but we appreciated all James did for us the day of our wedding. We also really liked his assistant and can't wait to see how our big day looks captured in their eyes

James shot our wedding and rehearsal in Cedar Mountain, NC. Organizing a destination wedding has its difficulties but working with James was a highlight; seamless from beginning to end. He was very clear in all his correspondence before the wedding and arrived early to all theevents. Super friendly and always professional, James made us feel comfortable and relaxed during our portraits. When we received our photos we were amazed by the lighting and attention to detail. James has such an amazing talent for capturing ‘moments’ which is exactly what you want on your wedding day.

I hired James for my wedding this past July. He was very calm and laid back which was nice when I was getting stressed through out the day. He communicated well and made sure we got everything on our shot list. The portraits were amazing and he got great shots of all the big moments we wanted to have photos of. He mailed us a thumb drive of the all the photos and also gave us a link to download them too.

Our experience with JWP was fantastic! We met with him a few month prior to our wedding day to discuss the day and what pictures we would take and where. He had a deep knowledge of which pictures would look best, in which places, at what times and even with what other people. The day off he made sure to get some great groom shots and bride shots. He had a great idea for our first look pictures as well. The church service pictures were amazing and he was able to get many pictures without feeling like he was in the way. The reception was another fantastic experience with James getting a great mix of the speeches and capturing the mood of the party as well. I would recommend JWP and would hire again for any family moments that I would want remembered forever!

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Typically, I answer questions via email or phone then I meet a possible client either in person or via video chat depending on the distance the customer is from me. Once a client has decided to go with me we fill out a contract and stay in touch. Leading up to the wedding clients send me timelines, shot lists and any other relevant info I may need. The week of the wedding I follow up to see if theres been any changes or if there are any concerns. After the wedding it takes me about 3 weeks to do the post processing/retouching and get the couple all the photos from their wedding.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Masters of Fine Arts degree in photography.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Take a look at many photographers work, think about what kind of coverage you want for the day and what photos may mean the most to you years down the line. Choose a photographer who can best give you that in your price range.
