Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Make sure you're hiring a true professional. Due to the economy, many students have taken it upon themselves to go "pro." You may pay less, but you are not getting a professional dancer with professional costuming. Be very weary of anyone charging under $175 for a performance, as they are probably older, obese or a student.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. I am not an exotic dancer... no lap dances or taking off costuming of any kind. I will not perform at bachelor or all-male parties. Belly dancing is a classy and wholesome ancient art that requires a lifetime of dedication, training and skill, similar to other forms of professional dance like ballet and jazz.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. Ask for:
A current photo to be emailed representing the dancer's true age and weight.
The dancer's last 3 PAID performances venues. (private birthday party, bridal shower, restaurant performance, paid stage/nightclub performances, etc.). Clarify if these performances were paid or if they were in the "hafla" circuit, as those are unpaid.
How long they've been dancing, taking classes, if they're STILL furthering their education, if they teach and how many students they have.
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. Is your guest going to be happy or mortified from the special attention that we give them?
Also, a belly dance performance is usually between 10 and 30 minutes. A true-blue 60 minute show will bore your guests and be very expensive.
