City Lights Makeup Artistry was established by professional celebrity makeup artist Paula Heckenast.

Growing up Paula always expressed the characteristics of an artist. She was always drawing, painting and of course getting into mother's makeup.

Paula has been in the beauty industry since late 2006, which would label her as "new" in Hollywood. In a short time, Paula has achieved quite the name for City Lights Makeup Artistry. Working for celebrities, touring North America and providing flawless work for huge names like Covergirl and L'oreal. From beauty to fantasy City Lights has the ability to provide the look you seek.

City Lights Makeup Artistry has one goal. To provide you with a professional service that will blow you away. We work with only the BEST products and promise your makeup application to remain flawless from the moment you hop out of our chair until you wash your face. Some clients, although we do NOT recommend, wear the makeup application for several days. You can rest assured your makeup will not melt, run or smudge.

  For those of you reading this post, I would not recommend Paula though she is very talented. I came to her from out of state and gave every indication of employing her for my wedding. I needed to first return home to find out how many others would be joining us in the makeup session. My husband-to-be had emergency surgery, which I emailed her about. She booked someone else during that time. There was no reason to believe that I was not going to follow through with a commitment. Having integrity is one of the most important assets a person can have. Paula showed that she lacks this.

  I e-mailed Alison our pricing menu and contract to review before moving forward. She reviewed and decided to schedule a trial session. I met with Alison and her husband in the afternoon. Her husband walked in the door very unhappy and told me that I was lucky that he didn't know where I lived, otherwise he would have not come to me. After the trial session Alison attempted to haggle our pricing and travel fees. After explaining why I do not haggle with clients - changing pricing can become confusing and troublesome for any business. Her husband was very unhappy and shouted at me, telling me I am lucky that he drove to me for her make-up session. He repeatedly made comments to Alison while finishing up our session about the distance and they should have hired an artist closer to their home until he finally stormed out. Alison said she would have to think about it and would get back to me. (Getting a final number was never mentioned. I am more than happy to take a contract listing the number of confirmed appointments along with the number of maybe's). At that time I told her that I can not hold a date with out a deposit and completed contract as I have had several inquiries about her date, She responded, "Oh, of course". Since her trial session she wrote me an e-mail asking a question about the contract. I responded immediately and did not hear back from her after that. several days after her trial session I booked another session with a bride. She loved her make-up and booked on the spot. I notified Alison immediately and she was not happy. She told me that she had mailed out the deposit and contract but I did not receive it until it had been nearly 2 weeks after her trial session date. Alison only included a check, no completed contract. I did apologize for any inconvenience and offered to refer her to another trust worthy artist. She did not respond. This incident was nothing personal against Ms Gold. If I wait weeks to hear back from brides, I would never book any work. That is why the deposit and contract are required to hold your date. Again, I am VERY sorry about the way things happened. I would never intentionally hurt one of my clients. I strive to be different by caring for each and every one of my customers.

  I have been using City Lights Makeup Artistry for 3 years. I will never go to another makeup artist again. Paula's attention to detail, natural talent and passion for enhancing people's beauty from the outside-in is what makes this woman so special. When someone looks beautiful, they feel beautiful too! She is a true artist.
