I really enjoyed speaking with Sandy and I must say that I look forward to meeting with her in the near future to discuss possible solutions for the skin condition that I mite have in fact, being alopecia. She was the one that recommend that I see a dermatologist and once I get that evaluation and I will be ready to take the next step with Sandy! Can't wait!

I have thick hair & hard to color hair. Sandra is the first stylist since the one I had who used to do Jon Bon Jovi's hair & quit to do real estate in 1998. I had been so frustrated with bad colorists & cuts that I cut my own hair for 7 yrs.. until Sandra. I have beautiful, natural sunkissed highlights on a base color thats knocked 20yrs off my age and never any orange. Sandra works with my many cowlicks & my hair is beautiful every time. Her knowledge & enthusiasm is a plus & I will never leave her or trust my hair to anyone else.

Question and answer

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. I would want to know about my stylist attitude first then their work. Inside secret is the same that we tell consumers and prospective employees. Get a service with the person. Come early enough so you can see the stylist inside their element and to catch them performing a service on others. You can tell if the stylist is passionate or not. A passionate stylist is a good stylist. Because we care about not only the quality of work but the reputation.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. License Number (if the character seems a little shady)
Professional references
Links to sites showing their work i.e. facebook, backpage, flikr, etc
Former places of employment
Specializations
CEU credits
Any publications

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I believe in quality work. I'm a perfectionist. I won't stop until you're satisfied and you look as if you stepped off the cover of a magazine. It's not about money or how many clients you have in a day. Does your client's eyes light up when you're finished? It's about giving others joy in their day.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love the relationship that's established with my clients. Once you get past the formality and the silence sometimes, we can really open up to each other. It's refreshing when you look forward to someone coming and sitting in your chair.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. How can you have so many certifications at such a young age?
Knowledge is power. I loved color since I was a kid. Now, I love hair extensions. The more you know, the more it benefits your business and those around you. The great thing about this business is that it's always evolving and improving so you discover more facets not only about your career but about yourself along the way.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. Hands down when one of my clients was going to a Jimmy Buffet concert. She always gets crazy, fun colored extensions put in everytime she comes and she wanted to be really noticeable this time. I've always passed the buck on another stylist to pick her colors but this time it was my turn. She's a natural ash blonde so we put in of course extensions that matched her color, but then some light pink, platinum blonde, silver and baby blue. In small amounts of course. I never let her see it but when we turned her around, she screamed "I look like a bowl of cotton candy! It's AWESOME!". Love clients who throw caution to the wind, allow you to be creative and it works out for everyone.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. #1 We aren't magicians
#2 We know it's therapeutic to be in the chair but no literally intimate details of your life.
#3 Eating in the chair is rude. Especially if we haven't.
#4 Entourages are acceptable for the President and Oprah. No service, no seat.
#5 Time is the only thing we cannot duplicate in life. Value ours as we value yours. Things happen but don't take advantage.
#6 If you confirm, be there. See #5
#7 If we say something isn't right for you, take our advice, it will look BAD.
#8 TRUST US! Sure first time client apprehension is understandable. But! If there's a connection, please trust that we have your best interest at heart and only want to make you look outstanding. Throw caution to the wind! If you're daring that is
