My primary focus is to create print and online portfolios for models, make-up artists, stylists, and others who need to express their work through photography and digital art.
I also market the work, both print and online, in galleries, through websites, and various independent firms and businesses.
I focus on digital photography and design, although I also help create an image. I work with a variety of other industry artists including hairstylists, make-up artists, tailors, and graphic designers.
Question and answer
Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. My most common would be photo shoots leading to a print portfolio. Second, would be working with artists to create a look or a series of looks for a an event or series of photo shoots. Finally, it'll be a tie between weddings, family/group portraits and marketing work.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. It never hurts to ask questions, I always encourage those I meet to communicate. Even when I don't get the assignment. I also work as a consultant and liaison, which allows my clients to get the benefit of a third party with a variety of artistic and professional experience.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. In regards to weddings, I stand out because I stay the entire length of the wedding; to photograph an 8 to 12 hour wedding is common. With regards to creating portfolios, I focus a great deal on black and white photography, which has become an increasing rarity.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. What I like most is that it allows me to be creative. After several years of experience, I still enjoy what I do. As they say, find a career you enjoy and you never have to work a day in your life.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. Is it extra to have an all black and white portfolio? Nope, just tell me beforehand and I'll edit and print the photos properly.
Do you still focus on your own ideas? Yep, I have 3 to 5 projects a year I create on my own time. I often work with the models I've photographed in the past, and am always looking for new models to work with.
Do you work with new or inexperienced models? Between a third and half of the models I work with have less than a year of experience in modeling. Of them, about half have gone on to work at an agency. The rest have chosen to stay independent and we work together to maintain current clients, and find new ones.
