Introduction: My work stands out because I have had experiences from a young age that have allowed to me to reconnect with the original seed of passion and discovery for music. Even if I'm working with a student who is 50-I try to bring out that sense youthful energy that drives us to try new things and enjoy with reckless abandon.
It doesn't feel like a job at all. Music is my passion and my home. I take it everywhere with me, and it never turns "off" or "on." I love to see my students grow-because it always proves to be a true testament to patience, hard work, and focus.

As a complete beginner in music, the thought of learning any instrument in my mid-twenties is pretty daunting. Matt has definitely helped me ease into this and improved my playing with his teaching style and genuine support. The other reviews are on point: he is great at communicating and demonstrating the proper techniques. Further, his enthusiasm for music feeds and enlivens each lesson!
In the past few months, our lessons have covered topics ranging from the right sitting posture to limb independence and reading sheet music. I would like to note that Matt is able to play everything from jazz to latin on the drums While Im still very much learning the fundamentals, I do think having a teacher who can do this will be beneficial for any student down the road in gaining a broader set of drumming skills and appreciation for the many different genres of music. Last but not least, I appreciated it when Matt helped me research the best ways to practice drumming, as I live in a multistorey building.

Matt's teaching style is perfect for anyone who is enthusiastic about learning to drum and have fun. He is very chill, flexible, and really allows you to make the learning experience what you want it to be. His love for music and drums is evident and makes learning them that much more fun!

Matt is a great teacher who knows his stuff. He is laid-back and easy to talk to. His lessons are less expensive than most others, but the quality is still there.
I have learnt a lot already from just a few lessons and am looking forward to more drumming with Matt in the future!

I am a beginner drummer, and started taking lessons with Matt a little over a month ago. My playing has improved astronomically since working with Matt, as Matt is able to explain and demonstrate the proper techniques in order to become a better drummer. He is extremely patient when it comes to learning new beats, and is able to take a song of your choice no matter what the genre is, and break it down into simple parts. I highly recommend Matt for a drum teacher, because of his years of drum experience, and his ability to teach in a very understandable way.
