Margaret Goldstein
About
I would like to be your tutor in English as a second language (ESL). I am a native English speaker (female). I spent two years in Japan teaching English as a second language at the YMCA of Osaka.
I have degrees in Philosophy (graduating Phi Beta Kappa) and Computer Science (Master's) from the University of Michigan and an Associates Degree in Interior Design from Harrington College of Design in Chicago.
I also completed a certificate from the University of Michigan in teaching English as a second language.
I have had a career doing consulting in Information Technology areas (payroll, timekeeping, finance). I worked for IBM (systems engineering and marketing) for over 10 years and have had my own small information technology services firm since 1994.
However, I have always enjoyed teaching. Since March 2009, I have been tutoring English at Literacy Chicago, both one-on-one and for small groups (3-9 people).
The Harold Washington Library (State and Van Buren) and the Chicago Cultural Center (Randolph and Michigan) are convenient places to meet for many of my students.
I have lots of ideas for teaching English, and I always strive to give my students an entertaining time while conveying new concepts. I also work hard to make sure they learn real conversational English, not just "book English".
Please contact me if you would like to have fun and learn English at the same time!
